Everything from check-ups and treatment planning to teeth whitening

Our dental studio offers a vast range of dental procedures, including:

Treatment planning always starts with a thorough check-up/examination, usually supported by x-rays, in order to diagnose existing problems or issues. Some treatments will be quite urgent and need to be attended to as a priority. Others will be identified as part of your ongoing dental maintenance programme and can be planned and attended to over a more extended period of time.

One of the best gifts we can give our children is the gift of “natural teeth for life”. Natural teeth are by far the best option in terms of dental function. Almost anyone who has had to have dentures will tell you that they wished they had looked after their own teeth better. Your dental team is here to support you in this.

Fissure sealants are a preventive plastic coating applied to the grooves and valleys (fissures) on the biting surfaces of newly erupted molar teeth in young children. These are used to PREVENT decay, so we want to seal the teeth soon after they erupt.

By definition, a dental restoration is any dental repair which is designed to restore the function of the tooth by replacing missing or damaged tooth structure.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth ‘root’ (often made of medical-grade titanium) that is placed into the jaw bone to support an artificial tooth (usually a porcelain crown). Titanium is a biocompatible material and is virtually allergy-free. The implant is usually inserted into the jaw bone under a local anaesthetic and the bone grows onto the implant and integrates to the surface.

Crowns and most bridges are fixed prosthetic devices. Unlike removable devices such as dentures which you can take out and clean daily, crowns and bridges are cemented onto existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by a dentist.

Our teeth are supported by their roots, not unlike the foundations of a building. Looking after the roots is vitally important to keeping your teeth. Inside the tooth is a chamber with fine spaces leading into the root/s where the dental nerves and blood vessels (pulp) are. If the pulp becomes diseased, or it dies, an abscess and/or toothache can occur.

Complete dentures are worn to replace all your natural teeth (either top or bottom or both). They are usually made from life-like resin teeth bonded onto an acrylic (plastic) base. Dentures are custom-made to fit your mouth and coloured to look as natural as possible. In upper dentures, the acrylic covers your gums and most of your hard palate. In lower dentures, the acrylic covers the gum ridge down to where it makes way for soft tissue.

Cosmetic dentistry is the use of dental treatments and procedures to improve the appearance of your the teeth and mouth. These procedures typically deal with personal preferences, not dental health issues, although restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry often overlap.

What to expect from the Deep Bleaching Process.

In a perfect world, your teeth would last you for your entire life. There are a number of times where extraction is the most appropriate treatment option though, and we are here to assist patients.

A Dental Emergency results in dental treatment primarily designed to alleviate pain. This can be the result of an untreated infection, or a sudden event (breakage or accident). Dental Emergencies are generally ‘pain motivated’ treatments. It gets to the point where the discomfort overcomes the fear of the Dentist, or the account!

Looking after your teeth follows a very simple concept – prevention is better than cure. Unfortunately, many of us do not appreciate the value of our teeth until they are in need of repair or removal. Teeth don’t grow back! In a perfect world, your teeth would last you for your entire life, and one of the most effective ways of achieving this is to have regular dental check-ups.
