Fillings
Fillings are one of the most common dental treatments—and for good reason. They’re a simple, effective way to repair a tooth that’s been damaged by decay or everyday wear and tear. By “filling in” the affected area, we can restore your tooth’s shape and function, and stop the problem from getting worse.
Sometimes it’s a brand-new cavity that needs attention, or it might be an old filling that’s worn out and needs replacing. Either way, we’ll gently remove the damaged part of the tooth before placing the new filling. If decay is left too long and reaches the nerve of the tooth, a simple filling might not be enough to fix it. In that case, a root canal may be needed to save the tooth and relieve any pain.
What Are Fillings Made Of?
We offer a range of filling materials:
- Tooth-coloured fillings are the most popular and can blend in naturally with your smile
- We may also use amalgam (silver), gold, or porcelain when needed for strength or durability in certain areas
What Should I Expect?
Small fillings are often quick and straightforward—and many don’t even require an injection. For larger ones, we use local anaesthetic to keep things completely comfortable. If you ever feel unsure or a bit anxious, just let us know. We’ll take the time to talk you through everything and make sure you feel at ease throughout your visit.
