Root Canal Treatment
Sometimes the inside of a tooth can become infected or badly damaged — usually from decay, a deep filling, or injury. When that happens, a root canal can help save the tooth instead of removing it.
Inside every tooth are tiny canals that hold nerves and blood vessels (the pulp). If the pulp gets infected, it can cause a toothache or even an abscess.
With root canal treatment, we remove the infection, seal the space, and then rebuild the tooth. There are often a few ways to go about it, so your dentist will talk you through the options and help you choose what’s best for your situation.
It’s not a quick fix—most root canal treatments take more than one appointment and may be spaced over a few weeks. But it’s well worth it to keep your own tooth in place for years to come.
